    Paranoia / Ain't Life Strange

[engl] LAST COPIES - jackets have some shelf-wear / touched by time… Pierced Arrows (Fred and Toody Cole from Dead Moon and the Rats with Kelly Halliburton) at their best! Side A is a truly haunting rant that used to serve as the bands show closer through most of their career and side B is a deep as hell ballad with Toody on vocals. The real stuff!

    PIERRE OMER`S SWING REVUE

    Swing Cremona

    PINK ROOM

    Putain Royale

[engl] The moment has finally arrived, The new album from the Belgian rockers Pink Room is out. The album is called ‘Putain Royale’ and is out on ZOE ZOE RECORDS, ROCKERILL RECORDS & SIX TONNES DE CHAIR RECORDS. A while ago we got the first video and single from the track ‘Losing’ which was a gorgeous kick in the face and the first track after the intro (by Nathan Roche) and it is a perfect start on ‘Putain Royale’, heavy garageriffs and some wild psychedelic solo work at the end of the track. On ‘Losing’ Cis Deman (Stake) and Bart Baele (Tubelight, Speedozer) are guests. For ‘Stay White’ they change to a higher gear and go faster and wilder, a track filled with fast paced energy. By now everybody already understands that this album will be one intese chunk of energy. ‘Hail Satan’ may be the most accesible track, if you could call anything accesible on this album, the riff on ‘Hail Satan’ is catchy and the vocals screech their way into my brain. Tijl Van De Casteele from Whorses en Jonas Calu from Little Trouble Kids doig guest percussion on ‘Hail Satan’. Their is a clip coming for ‘Hail Satan’ and their will be a lot of fire in it which is cool because fire is cool. There is no time for a breather (on the whole album) or a break to drink a hot cup of cacao because ‘Live Laugh Love’ is again fast, loud, and like almost all of their tracks it is adrenaline boosting (is that a word? it is now?). ‘All Breaks No Gas’ I heard the first time when I was on my bike and I was so pumped I almost drove in to a canal. As I am an excellent reviewer it is also time to talk about the drums so that the drummer did not think I forgot about him, on the whole album Jelle does some excellent drumming and with all his hittin and smashin he takes care of the relentless tempo and on the next track ‘Colin’ he brings some nice vibe with his woody drumsticks. ‘Skin’ (with guest vocals from Sam De Clercq van Brorlab) and ‘The Most Underrated Piece of Art is Power’ are catchy rocknroll tracks (but then very heavy) . The last track ‘Stay Black’ is with guest vocals by Ruben from Vonnis and may be the most brutal track on the album, a track filled with punk and hardcore. The reason this album absolutely rules is because it is really fucking loud and heavy but at the same time it is catchy and fun. There is a perfect balance between noiserock and garagerock. I hate it when bands are superdark and really serious and Pink Room is the other way around, it is all about having a blast and that is what you hear throughout the whole album. Al the guest musicians on this album just make the whole shabang better, they give it an extra kick. This album feels like a destructive party, a party that ends in the gutter, broken and hurt but really happy.

    PIPSQUEAK

    Aint that sad

[engl] Long time ago, slightly drunk after the lunch break, and I wanted to chill a little bit and play EMERALD MINE on my Commodore 128D. I couldn’t find the right 5 ¼ inch floppy disk and it made me angry so I called Mindy via intercom. Well, she came in, also a bit tipsy, and sat on my desk, right where this white foldable device with the apple on it was standing, an apple that has been used already cause you can easily see that someone has bitten of a piece. Anyways, this thing began to send audio signals of superior quality, true in sound but I couldn’t get the lyrics. After very entertaining 2 hours I called the interns to find out what this is and I also gave them a recording contract and instructions on how to get this “artist”. Now, only 2 years later I finally have the lyrics! Printed with black ink on with paper, on the inlay of the PIPSQUEAK debut vinyl 7”! Man, that was a crazy day. 500 black vinyl.

    PLATINUM BOYS

    We Don't Dance

[engl] PLATINUM BOYS are from the Rust Belt town of Milwaukee, WI, USA. At first they seem like they can’t possibly be serious about this whole “Rock n’ Roll” thing – that PLATINUM BOYS must be some kind of stoned inside joke taken to the unfortunate extreme of actually appearing in public. The first impression is that they exist for sick self-amusement or that they all lost some gross bet. But when they start playing and the full force of their brutish sound is cracked open, PLATINUM BOYS deliver a musical punch that’s no joke. Their paint-huffing, sweat-soaked garage matrimony of Thin Lizzy and the Buzzcocks summons the spirit of the past 50 years of Rock n’ Roll in a uniquely 21st Century American way. Their songs are tight, aggressively sped-out and they boil up from a sneering, self-aware sense of humor. PLATINUM BOYS might just be geniuses, but if they are, it’s the type of genius that leaves you brain damaged. (Rev.Norb)

[engl] Pleasant Mob are a new Chicago project from the mind of Raidy Hodges (Spread Joy) backed by members of Tobacco City, Glyders, and Fran on this session. The lead cut, 'Irene', is a swirling psychedelic original that rides a familiar path to where Barrett, Ayers, and co. were stretching their minds at the beginning of the 70's. On the flip, Pleasant Mob treat us to a beautiful take on the Strawberry Switchblade classic, 'Trees & Flowers'.

Only a couple of weeks later, 13 songs full of 60s girl group and mod/pop sounds flavoured with just the perfect pinch of garage punk attitude ! POWER

    The Fool

[engl] "POWER is - and has been the real deal for quite some time. This single serves not only as a testament to that fact, but showcases two of POWER's best creations yet. Like thunder rips across the sky, the pounding drums on ‘The Fool’ signal the oncoming storm of slashing rock and roll. The single sees POWER explore a side of band which has always been simmering beneath the surface - and it seems the time was right for them to unleash these raw new tunes without holding back. Pure electric guitar damage from this most formidable three-piece. With the ‘The Fool’ cutting a figure which could’ve been found backstage at a show headlined by Venom and The Stooges, the flip, 'Give It All To Me’ displays a range of heavier melodies intoned by 80’s cult groups such as Wicked Lady and Iron Claw. POWER have stayed true to themselves and continued to ride towards to the storm."

    POWER SUPPLY

In the Time of the Sabre-toothed Tiger

[engl] After the demise of the Ooga Boogas in the Before Time, the four band members went their very separate ways. Being in that band was such an intense high pressure experience, some chillax time was well- deserved. Stacky recorded under the name Leon, Per joined Voice Imitator, Mikey recorded with The Green Child and Rich played in Drug Sweat. All quite deserving projects, but it was Leon's solo outing that garnered the most interest from public and industry alike. The demand for live shows led Leon to recruit Per from Ooga Boogas and a guy named Brad into his touring lineup. The trio was red hot, but inevitably the venues they filled required a fuller sound so Leon recruited Mikey from Ooga Boogas on second guitar. The gruelling touring schedule became too much for family-man Brad, so Rich from Ooga Boogas jumped in to fill his size 11s and off they went for another lap of regional Victoria. Eventually the question presented itself to this freshly-minted foursome: should they continue as Leon's backing band or strike out anew with a fresh identity? The answer came in a moniker too electrifying to resist; a name as clever, enigmatic and indeed, as powerful as the band itself. Power Supply. Back in the shed, jams became songs, jokes became lyrics and long afternoons spent together became the record you're now half- listening to while you yearn for your inbox. Listen though, and you'll hear life through the lens of Leon and the tactile tentacles of his pals. In The Time of the Sabre-toothed Tiger contains ten songs that listen so easy, you'll barely notice when they're gone.

    POWERCHORDS

    More than me

[engl] It‘s hard to toss the term „Poppunk” nowadays, it has become a generic term for commercial-radio music that has guitars and drums. Poppunk isnt punk that was just polished to make it suiteable for everyone‘s ears. Poppunk is snotty and fast 77 styled songs mangled and put on a griddle, strewn with sugar and cut into pieces that have the exact songs structure of 60ties heroes like ZOMBIES and BEACH BOYS with a touch of UNTERTONES and BUZZCOCKS. These two songs here are the perfect example of how simple and catchy songs can sound, and how hard it must be to assemble all the pop hooks and harmonies. It‘s no surprise that we are proud to have them on our label! Print Run: 500 copies, black vinyl, housed in a full color cardboard sleeve.

    PRIMITIVE HANDS

    Bad Men In The Grave

[engl] Get your ears around this stunner, second album by our beloved canadian troubadour Buck Hildebrand and his basement rats. Running away from life, hiding from starving polar bears, the opener "Only The Bad Remains" settles in to the groove immediately, pack you on a Winnipeg monochrome winter night dog sled ride until almost imperceptibly ratcheting up the intensity towards a cave where they pull off a garage punk mammoth awakeners like "Animal Blood" and "Unseen Love". "Bad Men In The Grave" has resonances of hatred failure and charming turns in dazzling daylight and truly exceeds the Primitive Hands past works. Considering their three singles from a decade ago, these recordings are the most expansive, career spanning release and maybe the first *real* album. This was self recorded by the band, respectively J.Quakenbusch and M.Blackburn.Chiming fuzz-drenched guitar folk songs like wonderful sonorous "The Food´s No Good", "Turkey" and barren "Vivid Storyteller" are the psych-rock preacher counterpart of the blues gospel of BEATMAN, the outlawed COWBOYS rock and roll. Third release on ALIEN SNATCH! after sonic force debut LP in 2017,nearly crashing of its own sheer weight of sonic force and some sticky melodic washes of Berlin streets, which turned into the "Heartless Man" 45 in 2018. Brian Hildebrand plays on the claviature of melancholy and rage in bands like DEMON'S CLAWS, MIND CONTROLS and GENITAL HOSPITAL and toured many times around the globe. Rootsy, black/white ink artwork by Darren Merinuk, printed on reverse side stunning ultra heavy cardboard stock. Third time there is limited edition on golden wax! Meet at the bar.

    PRIVATE LIVES

    Hit Record

[engl] The debut album from Private Lives is a bold proclamation - 'HIT RECORD'. From their humble beginnings as a quarantine bedroom project to the full-fledged rock'n'roll unit they've become, Private Lives set up ten tracks and strike 'em down in one smooth release. Part of the current wave of Montréal underground talent alongside Tha Retail Simps, Hélène Barbier, and Liquid Assets (to name a few) - Private Lives debuted in 2022 with their scorching self-titled EP on Feel It. Those five cuts are stitched into PL's vinyl debut, re-sequenced with new material that finds the four piece at the height of their collective powers. With Jackie Blenkarn's cool and confident vocals riding high in the mix, the group hammer out an impressive debut full length anchored by the strength of "Trust In Me", "Misfortune", and the title track, "Hit Record". There's not a moment of hesitation across these twenty-seven minutes. Whether it's the overarching simplicity of the r'n'r/garage-mined guitars, underlying pop charm, or deeper post-punk melodies - 'HIT RECORD' is both cathartic and familiar - a truly impressive combination of heart-meets-cool. As Private Lives wind the album away in the psychotic build of "Dark Spots", the Quebec quartet leave us with a captivating debut that begs to be spun again and again.

    PROTRUDERS

    Poison Future

[engl] After four self-released cassettes, Montréal's premier art-punk/neo-proto-punk band Protruders makes its vinyl debut with a 25-minute 12-inch of very groovy sounds. The sound is a bit clearer and maybe a little beefier—some of the noise gives way to a more relaxed and expansive approach. The psych quotient is higher. But the heart of the band is still beating for the sort of raw open-minded non-generic punk that once came from the likes of Rocket From The Tombs, Swell Maps, Dead Moon, Dancing Cigarettes, etc. “Fruit Hang” has a perfect mid-70s style garage feel—like a Boston pre-punk band tearin’ it up at the Rat! This could be the hit, kidz! Skronky sax gives “Hydrophytol” a kinda Hawkwind/no-wave feel. And dig “No Stone”—a slower one, catchy as hell—I swear it could pass for an outtake from the Saints circa 1978. Solid—another hit! At five minutes, the title track stretches things out a bit. This one has a definite Ubu/Voidoids vibe—nasty angular spazz-punk with a little more sax blat added. Very nice guitar stuff happening here. We get some weirdo HC action on “Stabilizer” and more hot guitar squiggles. “Tax 101” is maybe a “typical” Protruders song—that means good! “Wrong Way Sign,” pushes things over the six-minute mark, with a strong psych-punk feel (Wipers?) and some totally swell rock-jam stuff at the end. Wow. This record is a significant step for the band and an impressive way to start their vinyl career as they gain the higher visibility they deserve. Most excellent! -Eddie Flowers (Vulcher Magazine/The Gizmos)

    PSYCHO MUTANTS

    New Weird

[engl] Formed in the early 2000's in Pécs, Southern Hungary, Psycho Mutants is a cult underground band in their country. They owe this status to three things: the power of their stage performances, the charismatic personality of their singer, and that bass-baritone voice from beyond the grave, able to jump four octaves if necessary. Musically, Psycho Mutants is nothing we have ever listened to before: a mutation of music we've only felt, not just heard: rock'n'roll so intense it could have been played by Hank Williams if he'd been raised in the Carpathians, drunk on Palinka. Their influences are as diverse as Crime and the City Solution or Gallon Drunk, Jack The Ripper and The Gun Club. But the Magyar band is not just handling guitars. The addition of a trumpet, a keyboard, an accordion or a baritone sax to the line-up doesn't scare them one bit, giving this particular taste to their sound, which leaves nobody indifferent. Seven years after the success of "Baby Burn" (Volvox/PIAS), the Western Voodoo R'n'R combo is back with a mature album, "Motherland", discovered by Beast Records shortly after it was recorded. "Motherland" includes dark country ballads, monotone psychedelic melodies as well as garage tunes, laid on a moody, atmospheric, blues-based aesthetic. Listening to the album will make you want to see them play live, which they say, is well worth your time.
