    COLISION

    s/t

[engl] Colisión are a hardcore punk from Valencia, Spain blending the sounds of raw diy Columbian punk with the fizzy stomp you can find in Exit Order and on occasion, the groove of youth crew, the likes of Righteous Jams. This has it all, it has attitude, it's got the riffs and it's got real, genuine anger and passion in the vocals. This is their first e.p and what a way to enter! Till now they've only released the single La guardia alta earlier this year which you can find on this record. Here's what they have to say about themselves: Colisión is a LGBT band and we like to think of us as a band made by/for women and dissident sexualities or identities. With our songs we try to reflect our feelings and experiences as women and part of the LGBT community and the hostilities that we have to face on our daily lives. Hostility against hostility.

    CONSOLATION

    Repulsive Reflections

[engl] I tried listening to this at work but my bluetooth headphones weren’t connected and I blasted all the people in the office with the first 30 seconds of Repulsive Reflections - shrieking feedback which kicks straight into pummelling hardcore and Sean’s unhinged fighting-a-group-of-racists howl. People in the office started screaming - they had never heard such a hardcore punk belter in all their lives, and when the song broke out into a full on melodic mosher, some people even puked on their spreadsheets. The second song came in unrelentingly with one of T’s straight up killer drum fills. Discordant washed guitar shredding and fat bass lines made some people’s carpal tunnel wrist braces pop off in ecstasy. The ep doesn’t let up and towards the end of the 9 minutes, my co-workers were raging hard - two-stepping through the collaborative workspace and head-walking off the stand-up desks. Afterwards, we scheduled in a quick performance review meeting and all agreed that Consolation are bringing a fresh take on hardcore punk - offering up the intensity of Revelation style youth-crew with a heavy dose of Euro-style chain punk like Vidro and Axe Rash. Before signing off, we took a deep dive into the stats and figures where upon it was unanimously decided that the six songs on Repulsive Reflections were 100% CRUSHING HARDCORE ANTHEMS.

    DIALL

    s/t

[engl] Diall have taken a much-loved sound, made popular by bands like S.H.I.T GAG and BIB, and somehow created six songs of the heaviest sounding weirdo hardcore you will possibly hear. I don’t quite know how they’ve done it, but this record stands out well above their contemporary chain-punk freaks. I think it has something to do with TONE - it’s immaculate. Across the board. Every instrument and the vocals - perfect, but not over-produced. Just perfect. It’s really quite impressive. I don’t know how many of ya listened to the bass on Pissed Jeans Why Love Now but it was possibly the greatest bass tone known to human kind. Second only to this. I can’t describe. Just tone-city. The riffs are pure golden chops that swirl, jab and weave behind deep, gnashing, nasty-as-fuck vocals. And the drums - true pounding energy which gives the whole record a lead-pipe with which to smack ya up in the bean. There is a definite “largeness” to the whole 7” which gives Diall's mid-paced stomp and moments of fury a dizzying punch. It's a superior listening experience. Did I mention there is groove?! Well there is. Songs like Siloed and Golden Child are the hardcore hits which fulfil a punk’s two-step pit fantasy. Plus, the artwork is by Wesley Brown - my favourite hardcore/metal artist. It’s of a dog biting someone in the head. Lovely stuff.

    DWEEBS, THE

    Goes Without Saying

[engl] THE DWEEBS is tightly-wound, neurotic people playing tightly-wound, neurotic music and by the time this 10 minute “full length” epic comes to an end you might be feeling the same way too. It’s easy to see why THE DWEEBS are the baby angels of south west hardcore, once they start up - THE DWEEBS don’t stop. These ten songs are relentless. They will blast you to smithereens. The Dweebs are aggro-nerds and I’m not talking about the goddamn DESCENDENTS here - THE DWEEBS are channelling the spirit of first wave EMOTIONAL HARDCORE (Dweeb Nasty, Rites of Dweeb, and Gray Dweeb Matter) and jacking it with some classic Youth Crew JUICE. With songs faster and more pummelling than any regular dweeb-on-the-streets could handle, and the production is blown out and blasty (kinda like what Bootlicker are doing). If you’re a fan of classic hardcore and moving around erratically then THE DWEEBS is speaking your love-language. On a more personal note - the drumming on this record is perfect: it’s total carnage, but delivered with absolute control and power at top speeds… but manages to retain an element of sketchiness that makes it so good.

    EYETEETH

Negative Reinforcement + WIGGIN' OUT ZINE #4

[engl] Wiggin' Out 4 is here! Another chunky zine full of hardcore punk content. Including interviews with Diall, Eyeteeth, Juicebox, Middleman, Pleasure, Self Immolation Music, Illiterates and Headcheese, as well as a pull out centre fold poster by Krime and a 2 page tattoo flash sheet by Juicebox's vocalist Jess. This edition comes with a flexi from northern power violence heavies Eyeteeth. Eyeteeth are relentless and terrifying - just like all great hardcore SHOULD be! Dark powerviolence from people who have been in just about every notable straightedge hardcore band in the UK from the 2000s onwards. The four tracks on this flexi call to mind the powerviolence/grind gods Despise You mixed with some solid old school death metal riffage for an extra punch in the chops. Goofiness DOES NOT abound with Eyeteeth - these tracks cover religion, drugs, and British colonialism. No gimmicks. No trends. Just pure, fast as fuck hardcore that holds a knife to the throat of modern British society. - Hamish

    FINAL DOSE

    Void Inside

[engl] 150 x white copies The 2021 Dark Places ep from Final Dose gave us a little flavour of the dark menace that the band was capable of delivering in this here full length VOID INSIDE. The album name says it all - 10 songs of nasty blackened hardcore which will appeal to anyone who feels hopeless and a bit graveyard-minded but also likes a good headbang. There’s some serious origins of black metal influence happening throughout the record (blast beats and Dark Throne-inspired vocals are a beautiful combo) but also a tonne of stomping UK82 pace and riffage. Void Inside starts off with a Vangelis style instrumental - lonely and haunting, and then for the next 20 minutes nothing but fast, demonic music with actual Satan on vocals kicking your ass. Will you beg for mercy or will you enjoy the boot? Void Inside is significantly chunkier and punchier than the Dark Places ep and feels much more focussed - songs like Unchained, Like Rats, and World Prisoner are stone cold pit classics - that blast beat is pure gold. FD are pulling back black metal for the punks and showing the punks how to be gnarly without being meatheads OR wearing corpsepaint. Before succumbing to complete doom and nihilism of the human race give Void Inside a spin, it certainly cheered me up and I don’t really enjoy anything at all EVER.

    PERP WALK

    Permacrisis

[engl] Tasty new 7” from Bristol’s favourite chain gang, Perp Walk. Giving you the fast and stompy hardcore to make sure that the only “walk” you’ll be doing in the pit is the TWO-STEP if know what I’m saying?! The Perps have explored their options with these three tracks to break the meat and potatoes hardcore format. Longer songs that give ya a more complex song structure - mixing up song dynamics to keep ya guessing what is coming next, and there’s even a homage to the B52s. EP closer The Gavel is a primo example of Perp Walk’s potential - it’s got swagger chopped up with straight up speed, and then an end section that comes at you hard with guitar leads feeling like something Fucked Up may have done at their peak in 2006. If you don’t want to walk too far from the righteous path of chain hardcore but your heart tells you that there must be more to the mosh in 2023, then you might be ready to dip your crusty ass into the refreshing pool of the Perp Walk.

    PERP WALK

    The Chain Of Infection

[engl] The new EP from Bristol’s Perp Walk is a grade-A example of punk-leaning hardcore. Off the back of gigs with Punitive Damage, Fucked Up and Sheer Terror, this release on pink vinyl shows a band in impressive form. With regular shifts in speed and queasy guitars, The Chain of Infection is striking for its skillfully crafted approach. It’s a jarring, rager of a record played with precision, that doesn’t let you get comfortable - nor should it. Don’t hold back!

    TRAMADOL

    Demo

[engl] This is a brick. Absolutely solid hardcore that while raw, doesn't make the mistake most raw hardcore does: this has riffs. Songs that jump at you with disciplined simplicity, and sometimes tilt into psychedelic loops. Production is massive, without scrubbing off the noisier peaks. This record doesn't fit comfortably in any particular "era" or region of hardcore, but things that came to mind were: "See Nothing..." Discharge and Framtid, with shades of Boston bands like Mind Eraser and Scapegoat.
