    ILLITERATES

    No Experts

[engl] No Experts is a scorching follow-up to the self-titled debut, with even faster, shorter, and tougher songs, plus catchy gang vocals that, along with vocalist Lawson’s rabid cat delivery, recall Youth of Today at their most primal. While No Experts is about as straightforward as hardcore can get, Illiterates’ way with a tune makes tracks like “Tricks of the Trade,” “Nice Things,” and “Weather Capital” hard to dismiss as anything like “generic thrash.” Another track is called “As Old As You Feel,” and No Experts makes me feel like a teenager, exploding hormones and a short attention span ensuring that music this loud, fast, and action-packed is the only thing that makes sense in this world.

    Imploders

[engl] Another Covid startup band. Another crucial 2020's E.P. Was stoked when these mutts sent this session over to me and could not, would not say "nah". It's not hard to draw the lines of influence, Los Angeles 1980 might be the simplest but there's a big dose of Midwest sass in here and that's the way we like it. After you've bit your tongue off in sheer unbridled excitement, you can start gnawing at your wrists in manic anticipation for the LP they're currently writing. Shit rips!

[engl] Hailing from Toronto, Imploders long awaited debut 12" follows on the work laid out on their self titled 7" and Equalizing Distort radio session cassette. Their Self-Titled debut 12" is comprised of 16 tracks of pure, classic American Hardcore attack. Maladjusted adults carving out knuckle-burning, drywall-holing Punk Rock. Like their initial release, it travels a similar path first cleared by Circle Jerks and Zero Boys but there's a sheen in the efficiency and tightness of this offering that builds on that prior work. The tracks are scaled for an equal ratio of hooks and speed. Not relying purely on power or flash, Imploders sit right in the middle and are delivering some of the best Hardcore Punk since Personality Crisis walked the frozen plains of the Prairies. This style ain't broke and Imploders prove it doesn't require any fixing

    IMPULSO

    s/t

[engl] You know what to expect if ETT brings you a hardcore punk record! If not, have a listen to our newest edition to the ETT hardcore punk rooster. From the ashes of SANG this in Trento based hardcore clusterbomb delivers 4 feedback drenched hardcore songs in the best way you could have in 2017! After outstanding releases by bands like BLOTTER, GAG, SIN MOTIVO, MIRROR, BIB, or DAUDYFLIN this italian maniacs continue with the weird style of hardcore we like the most at the ETT HQ. This EP is absolutely SAVAGE. It's a crushing assault on the ears and mind. The recording is a perfect mixture of clarity and rawness. The growling distorted bass drives the sound on top of relentless drumming and fuzzed out and feedback drenched guitar work that's part classic Italian hardcore and part 'weird 2017' era HARDCORE. IMPULSO are noisy, chaotic and explosive and each track rages with anger and intensity. Guitar layers of repetition create a bed of noise when the delay infected vocals lay painfully. The recording here is just perfect, with rich, full bass and a big, expansive sound that's still a bit raw. Listening to this over and over I've really come to appreciate how great IMPULSO are at playing at different tempos. Each side of this EP has a faster song and one with a more mid-paced track. All are of equal quality and interest, which makes me realize that's not the case with a lot of bands. If punk bands vary their tempo at all, it's often that they implicitly privilege either slow or fast tempos, the lesser one providing little more than a necessary counterpoint to the band's dominant mode. Such is not the case with IMPULSO. Though they're loud, fast, and 100% hardcore punk, the songs and particularly the playing feels fleshed out and lived in in a way that most hardcore bands can only aspire to. A standout debut EP by a outstandingh band. Get weird!

    IN DISTRESS

    s/t

[engl] Experience the explosive energy of 90's New York Hardcore reborn through the dynamic sound of IN DISTRESS, a formidable trio hailing from Austin, Texas. Their inaugural album unleashes 8 relentless tracks fueled by a fervent blend of political outrage against the establishment. Brace yourself for a sonic assault that fulfills all your hood rat needs. Tough as nails, but not typical beatdown Hardcore – it's an explosive mix of anthems and sing-alongs. Loud and precise, fast and unapologetic, IN DISTRESS provides the ideal soundtrack for your rebellious spirit, appealing to fans of Sick Of It All, Kill Your Idols, Wisdom In Chains, Comeback Kid, Strike Anywhere, and anyone who shares a disdain for politicians and their deceitful narratives. "While, their sound may harken back to the noise-punk of the 90’s, their modern spin on these classic sounds puts them right up there with contemporaries in Show Me The Body and Venus Twins. This is a thick, grungy sound that has hints of psychedelia coupled with the use of electronics to further disorient and mess with your head. It packs quite the wallop. Whether the band is going full on raging, or mining the territory somewhere in between, they hit the sweet spot time and time again. This record proves that they are developing into quite the force." –New Noise "Cronies are an exciting new band hailing from New York City... Uplifting melodies, striking grooves, and manic vocals. With a nod to nineties noise rock and post hardcore... channels the spirit of Helmet and Rage Against The Machine among other past greats." –Destroy//Exist

    INDUSTRY

A Self Portrait At The Stage Of Totalitarian Domination Of All Aspects Of Human Life

[engl] A Self Portrait At The Stage Of Totalitarian Domination Of All Aspects Of Human Life is the debut album from international band Industry who are currently based in Berlin. Industry are a band that live and breath the UK anarcho punk era and especially the Mortarhate catalogue of Exit Stance (who they cover on the album), Vex and Icons of Filth. The sound is impassioned, desperate and honest. The vocals are spat with frustration, the rhythm section locked in with the bass taking centre stage and the guitar work has that slight flanged but powerhouse tone. It’s immense. Industry are made up of Nico from Lux, Jake from Stinkhole, Sebas from UZI / Desintegracion Violenta and Will from Mörpheme but Industry sounds nothing like any of these band. Along with Subdued, Industry hark back to a time long gone of classic Anarcho punk, but somehow make it feel current and essential. ( Sean Forbes / Rough Trade )

    INFERNO

    Hibakusha

[engl] The next dream comes true !! Another classic title from the german hardcore / punk history now first time official re-released. The second full length "Hibakusha" from south germans INFERNO was recorded in summer 85 at the legendary Music Lab Studios in Berlin. 14 brutal songs recorded with a pinch of speedcore that were not to be surpassed in power at the time. The Japanese term Hibakusha is used in the Land of the Rising Sun usually in connection with the victims of the atomic bombing of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and is as album title already before the recordings. The recordings were remastered by Archie Alert (now in TERRORGRUPPE). Cover and Lyricsheet has also been reworked by Howie. The vinyl edition is housed in a nice looking inside-out cover design.

    INFERNO

    Tod & Wahnsinn

[engl] The next milestone !! The classic of German hardcore / punk history was officially re-released for the first time. The first inferno longplayer "Tod & Wahnsinn" was in the eighties "the most important " hardcore record in Germany !!!! Mülleimer Records from germany put aout these milestone of the German punk / hardcore History The LP was recorded at the end of 83 in the Berlin Music Lab under the direction of Harris Johns. 20 songs with a speed and brutality at that time, unbelievable !!! these recordings includes also the track "Ram It Up", years later then the N.Y.C. Thrash metalers of S.O.D. covering the track. For the cover Artwork the band find an artist called Pushead who was later also active for Metallica. With this LP Inferno then actually became world famous, they are recording material for various samplers (including Cleanse The Bacteria, Welcome To 1984, Ultra Hardcore Power and others) also made sure the inferno got a very high priority in the scene. Later on the LP was re releasesed on the Brazilian label called Woodstock Discos without any permission of the band, they didn't know that Mülleimer records give a licence to the label. Later a bootleg version Tod & Wahnsinn LP came out, in a very bad presentation without any info. The re-release has now been redesigned down to the smallest detail after Archie's remastering, and the booklet was put together the way it was originally planned for release. Awesome work!!!! The re-release will be released also in colored vinyl and a nice inside-out cover design.

    INSANITY ALERT

    Moshburger

Das Ösi-Quartett mäht alles nieder auf seinem 2ten Album: Crossover-Thrash der alten Schule, immer mit einem Augenzwinkern und viel Spaß in den Backen und skateboardaffinem Humor (,Life's Too Short for Longboards!"). Thrash Harder! Alles, worum es geht, ist eine gute Zeit und ein ordentlicher Pit: Metal Punk in Reinkultur, den die Innsbrucker hart abfeiern und alle damit mitreissen.

    World Extermination

[engl] What more can be said about "World Extermination" that hasn't already been said? In our opinion it is one of the top five grindcore albums of all time. It's distinct, catchy, brutal, unpredictable, relentless, mechanically tight, razor sharp and that artwork is iconic as hell. A perfect album in every way. This is an official reissue, lovingly recreated with the best available materials to be as close to the original release specifications as possible. This version improves on the original in that it comes with more legible insert art, a heavier jacket and a much, much bigger poster. Everything is bigger in Texas, right? 1000 copies of black 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt jacket with lyric insert, poster and download card included. Recorded at Red Room Studios in Houston TX. INSERVIBLES

    Una Vida de Tristeza

[engl] Inservibles is probably the coolest, most relevant Mexican band of the past 10-20 years. Hyper negative/realistic attitude with a well-informed and loose sound that brings to mind United Mutation, or Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers, or garage, or Terveet Kadet with longer songs, recorded via 4-track with access to a delay pedal. Everybody always says "deranged", "weird", "disturbed", "menacing", yeah probably, it always helps to have something to be pissed about. But one should also note their keen abilities as songwriters, to write powerful and memorable hardcore songs that never stray inappropriately into rock or metal or speed. Just straight-forward mastery of all the things we love about 'hardcore punk'.

    INSTRUCTOR

    Terror Zone

[engl] Straight from the heart of downtown Bruxelles comes Instructor, a band that formed out of a group of friends who have been working hard to grow a local DIY scene centred around the Cobra Jaune Club. The CJ might as well be a time warp back to the CBGBs of the 80s, a truly raw punk affair where all freaks are welcome. Anyone who’s anyone on the hardcore punk tour circuit in the past 5 years will tell you playing the Cobra Jaume is what dreams are made of, bringing together punks and skins, together as one. Very much catching this vibe musically as well, Instructor sound like they got together in an alleyway and made some instruments out of garbage cans to play Breakdown’s ‘87 Demo and Kickback’s Cornered LP. As hardcore gets more and more polished, the truly meat-and-potatoes variety is becoming a rare sight, but that’s exactly what you get with Instructor, with bucketloads of attitude and energy from people living and breathing the life. Vocalist Dario sounds like he has smoked 2 million cigarettes, whilst guitarist Bert whips out some wild solos only a mother, and punk enthusiasts, could love. And that’s the point.

    INTENSIVE CARE

    Antibodies

[engl] In today's music landscape its so easy to intellectualize "noise" since there isn't much for the average listener to grab on to. You are made to feel stupid if you don't get all the nonsensical bleeps and scrapes that every mediocre can swilling table stander can belch out. And then there are the reasons that noise music, yes I'll call it music because that's what the fuck it is, took hold in the first place, the real standouts, the people and bands that have made something wholly original and visceral and against conformity that you must take notice. Intensive Care falls firmly in that realm. Coming from roots within the hardcore, metal and powerviolence scenes these cage rattlers employ a myriad of instruments including but nit limited to drums, bass, vocals, tape loops, junk, electronics and more to craft a stunning array of beat driven harsh noise and metallic industrial sounds that you can - if you're not already destroying your surroundings - almost dance to.

    INVALID

    Invalid

[engl] Invalid’s cassette-only debut, Do Not Resuscitate, came out on their hometown label Cruel Noise Records early in 2020 and, for me, it was love at first listen. Invalid plays hardcore in the tradition of Black Flag’s Damaged, deploying sophistication and craft not to show off, but as tools that allow them to go further and deeper as they exorcise their demons. Invalid’s bulldozer intensity is the first thing that grabs you, but the great riffs and songs keep you coming back, every track containing an improbable hook like the martial chant of “Wake up / eat / shit” in “This Life,” the primal howl of “wasting away” in the chorus to “Escape,” or the instant-classic intro riff to “Stupid Pills.” Fans of records like Direct Control’s first 7”, C.O.C.’s Eye for an Eye, and Unseen Force’s In Search of the Truth are perhaps best primed to appreciate Invalid’s punishing yet catchy and energetic style of hardcore. This self-titled LP contains all eight tracks from Do Not Resuscitate plus six new ones cast from the same mold.

Borrowing heavily from the Hear Nothing era DISCHARGE and echoing equally Suomi classics DESTRUKTIONS/ MELLAKKA and AOQ demo era CRO-MAGS, IRREAL creates a maelstrom of hypnotic feedback. Era Electrónica Catalan and Spanish anarchist lyrics bind the bands primitive sonic assault, delivering a modern hardcore punk record without an ounce of modern attitude. JARADA

    Ma´agal Sina´a

[engl] After a debut full-lenght record a year ago Jarada already crafted eight new brickwalls for a new one sided 12"! This Israeli band from Tel Aviv continues to deliver angry, punching and chaotic music to the table, with some really bleak and negative overtones that are intertwined with hebrew lyrics that are mixture of personal thoughts with some politics thrown in! Ma'agal Sina'a means "A Circle of Hate" in hebrew and is a natural follow up to the earlier S/T 12" and it deals with several issues which you can consider as "current events" from the past year and it also digs deeper into the emotional struggles and choices one needs to make to keep his or her shit together. On the one hand it may seem more cultural-political with songs like "Monopoly on Suffering" and "A Jewish State is a Circle of Hate" and on the other hand way more personal, with a self questioning and soul searching ("Riddance", "I Was in the Army"). As on the first record, you can expect fierceful vocals, chrushing hardcore riffs and plenty scraps of everything thats great about heavier side of punk music in the last decade.
