    NAILED DOWN

    Resurrection

[engl] After years in the warehouse we got the complete pressing from the never released triple 7" from vicious Australian head-grinders NAILED DOWN. Sixteen studio-recorded tracks of ultra-barbaric hardcore destruction. Previous releases on Profane Existence (Far East), Six Weeks, Spiral Objective, Homegrown, Power It Up, and more. The artwork is complete different to the CD release on First blood Family Records years ago. Nailed Down from down under have been going for quite some time now, and this is their newest release. They lay down the law with some absolutely unrelenting and pummeling hardcore, taking heavy influences from early '80s US hardcore, particularly Boston. In fact, they cover Negative FX's "Nuclear Fear". Although Nailed Down takes strong influences from early '80s Boston hardcore, it's not exactly in that style. The catchiness and hooks of those bands are substituted with blasting brutality, sort of like the way in which Infest was influenced by Boston hardcore. The noticeable exception being track 13, "You Tell Me" which is the catchiest song on the album. Either way, a really good album all around, and a good place to start if you are looking to check these guys out.(ripping thrash fanzine)

    NASHGUL

El dia después al fin de la humanidad

[engl] It seems like grind bands are a dime a dozen these day, and a lot of them sound alike or are just plain mediocre. Out of all the grindcore bands that I've heard lately, Nashgul definitely stands out as one that isn't afraid to stray from the stereotypical barrage of blasts beats and unintelligible guitar. This is one of those albums that you put on and all your friends say "whoa, who the fuck is this?" There is an obvious death metal influence here. The vocals range from piercing high screeches, to low Mesrine-esque growls, along with layered and call and answer dual vocal sections. What I think really separates these guys from other grind bands is the guitar: it isn't an onslaught of noise oriented chords structured in a "fit as many notes as possible into a 30 second song." There is a noticeable melody and structure to Nashgul's songs, which gives them an appeal to lovers of grind and death metal across the board. This lets you hear the progression of Nashgul's sound without having to keep switching records. If you like death metal and you like grind, buy this album and get blown away. 19 tracks, combining the best elements of Nasum, old Carcass, Terrorizer and Looking For An Answer. One of the best grindcore bands out there right now... By the way, the bands is on tour in september, so check it out.

    NEUROOT

    Plead Insanity

Beilage.

    OHL

    1000 Kreuze

[engl] The second LP by German punk veterans OHL is a lot fatter than their immature debut. The production is much crisper, the singing with its cynical bad news fits the political society. The songs are much more memorable. While OHL aren't really a thrash band, they produce some fast slabs of guitar-heavy power that will really tax your speakers at high volumes (like " Schrei, Schrei " " Warschauer Pakt " or "Belsen"). With "Nie wieder" they certainly have one of the most scathing anti-Nazi songs I've ever come across. OHL have found their command post! Recommended.

    OHL

    Impact Jahre 1

[engl] Another classic German punk / hardcore story. First released in 1994 on Impact Records, now released again for the first time, but as a double LP with bonus tracks. Did you hear "The 7th Sign" back then? The power chords at the beginning of "Blind und Taub" or the brutal riffing of "Falsche Demokratie"? "The 7th Sign" contains metallic elements, although it goes without saying that the band's punk-dominated past will not be forgotten. One thing is for sure: The 1994 album is one of the jewels of OHL's discography, not least because of its lyrical content. Four years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the OHL is raging against the old asshole Erich's regime in the GDR. A handful of songs deal with this topic, but OHL doesn't close its eyes to right-wing extremism either. In terms of the lyrics, this is nothing more than logical, OHL also doesn't forget to speak out against ultra-religious maniacs. The music is not overshadowed by the lyrics. OHL present themselves in a well regenerated state. With freshly charged batteries they shoot 18 songs into the crowd and that's almost too much of a good thing. The cover artwork has been completely revised, the result is a beautifully designed gatefold cover with an inside / out design.

    PASSIV DÖDSHJÄLP

    Fasader

[engl] The highly productive Passiv dödshjälp is back with a new fullength. Hereon you will find seven new PD songs and one Tinner cover. Pulverizing crustcore from Sweden. Intense in a direct way; keeping focus of the shit in todays society. Add to that some thundering and real heavy rhythm sections, balancing on the thin line between controlled rage and chaos, and you'll get one best album in 2011. There are many bands that combine the raging sound á la Skitsystem/Disfear/ Wolfbrigade sound with some black metal structures, but few who do it as good as Passiv Dödshjälp. Nice Digipack artwork!
