    Hard heartsingin'

[engl] Reissue from the original masters of the one and only album by this great Pacific Northwest band. Recorded in 1970, it's a mix of hard- driving psychedelic rock, heavy- blues and atmospheric ballads with big studio production. Flowing organs, powerful Doorsy vocals and hard- edged guitars. Nice orchestrations on some tracks which bring to mind Love's ''Forever Changes'' or Johnny Rivers ''Realization''.

    DRANSFIELD, BARRY

    Barry Dransfield

[engl] In 1972, Barry Dransfield recorded his debut solo album. Just called ''Barry Dransfield'', the album is a real delight from start to finish. It features an array of traditional songs arranged by Barry, some original ones and some fantastic covers from people like Michael Hurley (''The werewolf'') and David Ackles (''Be my friend''). Sadly, the album was deleted just after nine months from his initial release, because it was released on Folk Mill, a Polydor sublabel created to enter the folk field, but the Polydor guys realized soon that this was not his business, and deleted their whole catalog immediately (including also the C.O.B. Moyshe McStiff? album). Needless to say, the album has become a true rarity and a collector's item since then. Record Hunter voted him ''the rarest folk album'' and Tapestry Of Delights book described it as ''along with Vashti Bunyan's ''Just a diamond day'', this debut solo album, full of enchanting folk, is one of the two most sought after major label folk albums''. This wonderful album was reissued some years ago in a limited vinyl run of 500 that were disappeared at the first day without even entering UK & USA stores, as it was sold entirely to Japan. Now we're very happy to announce our new reissue , plus an insert with linernotes. A stunning release to add to our no- filler growing catalog. Absolutely indispensable!

    DREAMIES

    Auralgraphic Entertainment

[engl] Dreamies? is ranked #37 on Mojo Magazine's 2005 list of the 'Top 50 Most Out- There Albums of All Time' (a list that includes the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Velvet Underground, and Miles Davis). This unique album by Bill Holt, first released in 1974, sounded way ahead of their time and became an international cult classic in the following decades. A perfect example of what it was called ?Head Music? at the time, Dreamies consists of two large suits full of Lennon- esque vocals, sound collages, early electronics and proto- sampling. The perfect marriage between psychedelia, pop and experimental sounds. Remastered sound, original artwork, repro of the rare original insert.

    DUINDAM, JAN

    Thoughts

[engl] After cutting his teeth in several rock and folk bands since the late Sixties (Hush, Tail Toddle), Dutch singer / songwriter Jan Duindam released his first solo album in 1978 for the tiny Munich label. With help from local musician Guus Willemse of progressive band Solution, who played bass, drums and synth, Jan created Thoughts?: psychedelic folk- rock / acid- folk with stunning guitar playing and fragile, dreamy vocal harmonies. Features ?Happiness and tears?, a track selected by modern neo- folk / indie- rock stars Midlake for their ?Late Night Tales? mix. Remastered sound, gatefold sleeve, insert with photos and detailed liner notes. Jan crafted a quiet masterpiece that exists in its own soft, reflective realm? Hugh Dellar

    EVERYONE INVOLVED

    Either / Or

[engl] First ever reissue of this UK private press masterpiece from 1972. Everyone Involved was a hippie collective formed by well- trained musicians, assembled by Alan Wakeman and Michael Klein (Solid British Hat Band) to record a set of environmental protest songs. Some of the members of this London based recording commune included vocalist Freya Hogue (ex- Sunforest), guitar player Lucinha Turnbull (later with Cilibrinas Do Eden / Rita Lee), and bass player Arnaldo ?Liminha? Filho (Os Mutantes) among others. Either / Or? is a perfectly played and professionally recorded album (something very unusual for a private pressing). Top- notch psychedelic folk- rock / acid- folk with male- female vocals, flute, electric- acoustic guitars, bass, drums and some freaky / weird arrangements- effects. The album is now also famous for including A gay song, which is probably the earliest known example of a pro- open gay song. The original pressing of 1000 copies was never distributed or sold at stores, all the copies were given away for free (even to people passing on the street!). One of the members even buried a large number of them in a time capsule at the Amazonas rainforest! Needless to say, the original album is a highly sought- after artifact since the early days of obscure psych- prog record collecting. This reissue reproduces the original embossed cover and includes repros of the two rare inserts, including the giant fold- out poster with new linernotes and info printed in the revers. We?ve also included a repro of the ?Save Piccadilly? 7? single released in 1972, featuring a non- album track: ?The circus keeps on turning. Remastered sound from the original master tapes. Limited release of 500 copies only!!! This short- lived band cut one of the crowning glories of the English private pressing scene: a superb progressive / psychedelic folk set with all original material and some stunning performances. The overall mood of the album could be described as Jethro Tull meets Incredible String Band, shot through with a hippie communal vibe'' Richard Falk (Galactic Ramble).

    FACTORY

    Path through the forest

[engl] Sixties UK freakbeat legends get a new legit re- release of their complete available recordings and Guerssen is the proud new home for them. A real cult freakbeat & psychedelic group, well- known for such all- time classics as ?Path through the forest? and ?Try a little sunshine?, Factory released only a couple of 45s (both of them obscenely rare and paid big$$$ when rarely showing up). Here we get the 4 tracks appearing on these 45s, plus a couple tracks taken from acetates (killer covers of Familys ?Second generation woman? and Fairport Conventions ?Mr. Lacey?), as well as a new mix of ?Path through the forest? that includes the original, different psychedelic effects that were supposed to make it to the original release but were dropped out by the MGM label superviser. Remastered sound (only beware, ?Second generation woman? comes from a destroyed acetate!) and with linernotes by Factorys producer Brian Carroll.

A perfectly played and professionally produced record which ranges from full- blown psychedelia to glam, hard- rock, progressive- pop and dreamy psych. Echoes of Forever Amber, Five Day Rain, Octopus, Deep Purple, Procol Harum, ?Abbey Road? era Beatles and Appletree Theatre can be heard on the grooves of this lost classic. FANKHAUSER, MERRELL

    Merrell Fankhauser (The Maui Album)

[engl] After his stint with Fapardokly, HMS Bounty and MU, Merrell Fankauser released his first solo album in 1976. Comprised of songs written a year earlier while Merrell and violin player Mary Lee were living in the jungle of Maui, this is a brilliant set of spiritual folk- rock and 70s orchestrated SSW light- pop. The album was recorded at various Hollywood studios, initially sponsored by a producer from George Harrison's Dark Horse label. In fact Harrison was so impressed with Merrell's songs that he expressed interest in playing slide guitar on ''Our Way To Hana''. Sadly, due to internal problems, Dark Horse backed off and Merrell found himself without a label to release the album. Finally, a couple of friends from Maui released it on the small Maui Music label. On the recordings, Merrell and Mary Lee were joined by several studio musicians, among them, drummer Bill Berg, who had played on Bob Dylan's ''Blood On The Tracks''. First ever vinyl reissue with tracks restored to their original running order and original artwork.

    FLIPPERS, THE

Pronto viviremos un mundo mucho mejor

[engl] One of Colombia's better known 60's & 70's groups is Los Flippers. But few people outside Colombia knows about this wonderful 1973 album they did. It's probably because it was self- released by their leader Arturo Astudillo's own label rather than the bigger labels they used before, hence low sales. But in any case, it's no doubt a great album that must be heard. The music on this album is quite special, as it blends psychedelia with progressive sound and soul as well. With a very good production, here we find Los Flippers at their peak of inspiration and being now a bunch of very experimented musicians. The result is much more mature than any of their previous works of course, and they really achieved a sound that ranges with any supergroup. With all original compositions except a Buddy Miles cover, they used a good dose of psychedelic effects and some tasty horns as well. As an addition, this first ever reissue comes with a killer bonus track from an earlier 45, with a killer sound reminiscent of Iron Butterfly. Remastered sound from tapes (except the bonus track), and insert with liners by Arturo Astudillo.

    FRONT PAGE REVIEW

    Mystic Soldiers

[engl] Definitive vinyl edition of this lost album from the Bosstown Sound scene. Front Page Review rubbed shoulders with bands like Eden's Children, Beacon Street Union and Strawberry Alarm Clock. With legendary producer Alan Lorber behind the controls, they recorded in 1968 a whole album for MGM which was never released at the time. ''Mystic Soldiers'' is a prime example of late 60s US psychedelic rock, featuring a young Steve Cataldo (Saint Steven, Nervous Eaters) on songwriting / vocals. All the right ingredients are featured here: wah- fuzz guitars, organ, phasing, effects? Master tape sound, two bonus tracks, new cover design with unseen band photo, insert with detailed liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Got Kinda Lost / Ugly Things) telling the story of the band for the first time.

Stunning folk- rock / folk- pop with pro- recorded sound, superb musicianship and strong songwriting. With influences ranging from Fairport Convention to The Beatles, here you'll find some superb folk- rock adaptations of traditional songs such like ''As I roved out'', ''Gypsy Laddie'' and ''Rocky Road to Dublin'' along with fab folk- pop with Beatlesque vocals on tracks like ''Plain Jane'' or ''Gone are the days''. GRATEFUL DEAD, THE

It Crawled Out Of The Vaults Of KSAN 1966-1968 - Volume 1: Live At The Fillmore Auditorium 11/19/66

[engl] REPRESS! 2018 EDITION! This is a recording of a cult event, THE GRATEFUL DEAD live at the Filmore Auditorium on November 19th 1966. Recorded before their first album came out, this record features three primeval versions of tunes from their debut record and eight goodies, standards and originals, that were not featured on any official studio and live recording up to 1970?s ?Working man?s dead?. We are right there, on this magic night in November 1966 when psychedelic rock was still something fresh and exciting and the emerging hippie movement had not exploded yet. That came half a year later with the invasion of Haight-Ashbury. But these recordings are not only of historical importance, their musical value lies on an amazing level. The band smokes on stage throughout the performance. The sound is muggy for sure but each instrument comes through as it should and the simmering duels of guitar and organ make your head swirl. This album will certainly make the young generation of 60s music aficionados go crazy. A new beautiful cover artwork and some good work on the overall sound quality restoration make this album a joyful experience. And be sure, something like this 17 + minutes version of ?In the midnight hour? will have rarely hit your turntable. The overall atmosphere is just haunting. Even their official ?Live / Dead? album will never reach this intensity. The release reminds of the early DOORS or IRON BUTTERFLY live recordings released in the last few years. A band at it's prime with the world to gain and nothing to lose.

    GRUPO AMIGOS

    Paloma mensajera

[engl] Originally released as a demo pressing in 1973, ''Paloma Mensajera'' by Peruvian band Grupo Amigos is without doubt one of the rarest albums from the South American psych scene. Only a handful of copies were pressed for the band members and needless to say, an original copy is impossible to find now. The band was formed by some long- time friends of Saúl and Manuel Cornejo, both from legendary Peruvian bands Laghonia and We All Together. Manuel Cornejo played drums on the album recordings and Saúl was the session engineer. Influenced by groups like Beatles, Byrds, Stones, Badfinger, Shakers and of course Laghonia and We All Together, the music ranges from terrific guitar psych- rock like ''Dirty Girl'' (which sounds like an outtake from Laghonia's first album) to British sounding pop- psych (''Mr. Taylor's Train'', ''Psychiatrist'') harmony pop á la Byrds on ''Looking for home'', a few rockin' tunes and some beautiful mid- tempos which show their We All Together influence. They alternate English & Spanish in their lyrics.

    HARBINGER

    Second coming

[engl] Unknown to most 60s/70s collectors until its discovery a few years ago, this is the beyond rare second album released by loner/downer folk legend Dave Bixby, recorded around the same year as his first one, the now famous ?Ode to Quetzalcoatl?. Musically is equally as good and very similar to the first one but this time the recording took place in a professional studio, so the sound is improved. Bixby is joined by Brian MacInness on guitar, Sandy Johnson on vocals and Don DeGraaf on bass and production duties. Don was in fact leader of the, in the end, religious destructive cult known as The Group, of which Bixby and Brian were part of. The sound is more up- front and the songs are slightly optimistic compared to the ones on Ode to Quetzalcoatl. There's plenty of acoustic 12- string raga guitars and harmony male/female vocals. The lyrics deal with cosmic imagery, psychedelics and religious/biblical references but this goes much deeper than any Xian record. Features titles like Cosmic energy, Time to clear your mind, Rainbow, Circus World. Reissued for the first time under license from Dave Bixby. Features carefully remastered sound from a clean vinyl (no master tapes exists) done at Shadoks Music Studios, and an insert with extensive and detailed liner notes by Matvei Procak - the guy who found Bixby in 2006 - plus some rare pictures.
