[engl] Extremo Nihilismo en Barcelona is the sound of a slow cooking bomb. The 8 tracks of anxious hardcore contained within this 45 RPM 12" are pretty much what it says on the tin. Extreme, Nihilist and utterly Barcelonian. The sound of the eternal frustration with your surroundings. The soundtrack of falling out with everyone around you. Musically filled with a solid yet counter intuitive rhythm section, insanely violent riffs and the angriest and more credible female vocalist since FIRMEZA 10 stopped playing. The barely 11 minutes of music contained on this 12" rate amongst the most claustrophobic hardcore sound I've ever heard.

[engl] Over three years ago the band Barcelona entered the studio to record what was originally planned as a double LP. As the genius that they are, they managed to record around 25 minutes of their trademark “extremo Nihilismo” sound. A high concept sonic vomit somewhere between CRO MAGNON, ISKRA, NO TREND and PETRA DE FENETRA. Comfortably sitting on the crossing between hi-brow conceptual art and low-brow delinquency. In the intersection where the EXPLOITED meet the Incus catalogue as if Tony Oxley and Ian Brighton were jamming with Wattie and Big John. The recording was eventually (and conceptually it seems) split into two records. The first one being “Un Último Ultrasonido Nació Y Murió En Barcelona” (MUS138, 2017) and the second one “Residuos Del Ultrasonido” released now a mere three years later. Loads could be written about the painful process between both records but let’s just focus on the recording and be clear: Residuos pisses all over its predecessor. The songs are full of spite and power with the level of vileness reaching new levels on this eight track 7” EP. Listen to Higiene or Salvajes and tell me they are not some of the best Barcelona songs ever. As always, artwork taken care by Oriol Roca, a person I look forward to never hearing from again.

[engl] Compiling all E.P.'s by Bootlicker, "Lick The Boot, Lose Your Teeth" presents 24 tracks originally released over four 7"s dating back to 2017. From the earliest incarnation of the band and the start of their signature production and sound to where they are now. With the overblown martial drumming, completely pinned clean guitar attack, Bootlicker has been a fresh take on D-Beat tradition with a handful of Oi/UK82 and American Hardcore influence on the side. Each 7" is compiled here and represents a different phase of the band. The completely broken speaker aggression of "Who Do You Serve", the slight Rock 'n' Roll influenced "Nuclear Family" and bare bones approach of the "Six Track E.P." all paved the way to a more realized sound in "How To Live Life". Instead of tracking down each out of print, individual E.P. Here they are for the taking.

[engl] It's 2021 and Vancouver’s Bootlicker are back with their first full length. Experimenting with various lineups and sounds since 2017, these 14 original tracks flesh out their most realized expression. Following four EP’s and two demos, their self-titled debut stays true to the noise cultivated in the previous offerings. That raw, blown-out production countered with clean guitar sound and Internationally-informed take on a UK82 delivery remains. Everything that made the band what they were on their previous output is polished into a ball of fire that will not be contained. Their mid-tempo, menacing posture of tracks like "Herd The Sheep" and "State Of Fever" give way to the D-beat totality of "Master" or "Two Faced" proving there are still ideas in the tank. [engl] Rage fueled powerviolence/harDCore from the “ City of Magnificent Distances”. Since their 2018 inception, Brain Tourniquet has payed homage to the classic West Coast Power Violence legends like Man Is The Bastard, Crossed Out and Neanderthal while maintaining their own identity and consistently twisting the conventions of the genre to make something new and urgent and fucking skull crushing. ‘...An Expression In Pain’ takes that forward trajectory 10 steps further and absolutely decimates expectations. This band is truly a light in the darkness.

[engl] BRIGADE FOZZY was one of the early hardcore punk bands from the Westphalian Münsterland. They started in 1983 with a trashy kind of punk, which the "Maximum Rock'n'Roll Magazine" described as "enjoyable, old-fashioned punk with verve". The band played in various formations until 1989, learned their instruments well and changed their style into "good, driving hardcore with sharp drums and cutting guitar" (MRR). The band released two EPs on their own label "Punk Anderson Records" and played most of their shows in the nearby Netherlands. They also contributed a song to the legendary Dutch "Babylon Staying" sampler. In 1989 they released their last studio recording, the "Resident Mockery" tape, which praised the fanzine "Aardvark" as "crystal clear hardcore with critical lyrics".The LP features the band's complete studio recordings, including their 1984 DIY Lifelong Debut EP, the critically acclaimed 1986 "War War" EP and the 1989 "Resident Mockery" tape. The LP also includes two previously unreleased songs (Resident Mockery, Tea and Peace) from the recording session of 1984. The LP comes in a beautiful Inside Out cover plus a 16-page booklet with lyrics, band history and many pictures of bands, posters and flyers, As always with Brigade Fozzy: everything in black and white.
