[engl] "More acts of wonder from the land down under - Punter hail from Melbourne and their brand of noise is thrillingly intense. They describe themselves as ‘a hardcore band described as a rock band’, and it’s difficult not to fall in love with a statement like that, especially when it so accurately describes their slalom between all-out axe heroics and to-the-point, in-yer-face-and-then-some punk ferocity. From the intro track’s snarkily deployed job centre answerphone message (“Just say, ‘in Australia, my voice identifies me’”), we’re catapulted straight into the wholly-inaccurately-titled A Minute’s Silence, which rages like Motörhead gargling bleach in the middle of a circle pit. This is likely the moment where you’ll know that your new favourite band is here, and they’re absolutely tearing it up. Punter first appeared in early 2020 thanks to a scorching demo (released on cassette by their hometown label Blow Blood Records), and you sadly don’t have to imagine the shitshow of pandemic, multiple lockdowns and a pressing plant logjam that meant we’ve had to wait til now for a second installment of blazing rifferama, accompanied by that specific vigour that only comes from being very cross indeed. Is there a band out there who’d flush Scott Morrison’s severed head down a toilet while instigating a wall of death around the u-bend? Feels like this lot could be in with a shout. Thrill! To the anthemic hooks and glorious mob shoutalong of Retirement Simulator. Spill! To the guitars piling up like wrecks at a demolition derby on Curfew Eternal. Be fulfilled! By the joy of a very brilliant band being very brilliant at you. This record pulls from a similar formula to their citymates Stiff Richards, but with the ingredients thoroughly fucked about and the proportions changed to the point that any resemblance is minimal at best. By the time the sunny ‘ooohs’ of A Year’s Silence get you thinking of proto-punk UK pub rock, you’ll be ready for more power chords propelled by even more diamond-hard energy - Punter offer all this by the bucketload. Get involved, friends. Get the fuck involved right now." Will Fitzpatrick "G’day, here’s our promo piece. We’re a new band so we gotta write our own, and we won’t bullshit you like we didn’t! Reviewers get in touch: Enter PUNTER, from Melbourne, Australia; three absolute Sick Cunts who have given the best years of their young lives to the creation of their sound, and the broadcast of their observations. All their years in the scene and on the road, playing and listening and talking shit and repeating the process, have culminated in this instant classic. Here, and only here, can we all finally agree on something. And that is because the elements contained within this record amount to tricks and tropes lifted directly from that ubiquitous juke box of punk rock anthems, rock’n’roll hip-shakers and hardcore bangers that are the years 1977 – 82. I’m talking about the real obvious shit right now. The Damned. FEAR. The Buzzcocks. SSD. The Jam. ACDC. The Bad Brains. The Clash. Girl School. Slaughter and The Dogs. And on and on. Good shit you thought you were sick of, that has now been carefully loaded into PUNTER’s slingshot, pulled right the fuck back and aimed squarely at the furious, foreboding and intense sound of the contemporary international DIY hardcore scene from 2012 to present. What has come out is, of course, anything but derivative. PUNTER have gathered for you the best bits from all the shit you thought could never be mates. And mates they now are, through this strangely original sound. Get fired up to this little rip snorter, showcasing all of the outrage, the desperation, the romance, the sass and the sorrow that a punk band can give - lead breaks, backup vocals and all. Let your heart rate rise to these songs of boredom, stress, fear, youth, death, grief, change, and class politics, all set to the backdrop of the emerging global technocracy, blasted at you from the Aussie suburbs, not least of all Melbourne, the most locked down city on the planet during the time of writing and recording. Should do the trick, I’d say.- Format

[engl] Exclusive repress on Groovie Records, with the suport of the founder band member Chico Aguiar. This is the extreme psychedelic band from Brasil. Or at least the best Garage Psych EP released, in the 60's, in Brasil. Its our opinion, maybe yours to. And when you first listen to this MONSTER you gonna aprove what we are saying here. Originaly released in 1969 its was rapidly tooked to obscurity by the public or the corporative music of the time. The content of this records is far away haead of he's time. Working in the fields of psychedelia and fuzz guitars can be compared only to Os Mutantes in greatness and quality. Or even in creativity. The band fronted by Chico Aguiar also was the band that suported Serguei "burro Cor De Rosa" and "Ouriço" tunes. The release can be aquired with a monster poster made by artist João Maio Pinto, that is a master in to put that psycdelic energy on he's art. Two colour poster with every release 50cm X 35 cm. Buys it, listen to it and blow up you mind in to outter space. Heavy Carton delux edition, oldschool sleeve glued backflip- Format

Hive Volumes 1 & 2
[engl] Child prodigy Buz Clatworthy's latest and greatest project! Features some very tight riffs and some of the catchiest song writing we've heard in a while. Reminds me of something that would fit right in to the NWI scene. Totally punk and totally weird at the same time. DEVO is an obvious band familiar, but there’ve been many bands since those Ohio freaks exploded the scene whose sounds ooze out of these electronic punk spasms made by R.M.F.C (GERTY FARISH, JAY REATARD, PARASITES OF THE WESTERN WORLD, and THE GIRLS and (NEW ENGLAND) PATRIOTS, the latter two of Boston, to name a few). R.M.F.C are making some really interesting punk in 2019. It keeps you guessing, and the band is tight as hell, which isn’t something I get to say about the punk I usually end up standing behind. It’s very true here though. Perhaps one of the the most sonically interesting bands currently creating noise for the plebs of our prison planet, all 11 tracks of this platter are essential. Meanwhile, the lo-fi recording is a key element to the sound, giving fuzzy guitars and bass and muddled drums and vocals. It plays well with the teen-age themes the band touches on. So if your into EGGPUNK or DEVO CORE that matter, you'll definitely dig! DEVO-CORE, EGGPUNK, Whatever - this shit bumps! You need to jam this EP NOW, because Skull Cult is stupidly amazing. I don’t care what any of you nudniks have to say, ROCK MUSIC FAN CLUB is a movement I can fuckin’ get behind!- Format

Back to me
[engl] debut 45 by Jeff Burke (MARKED MEN, POTENTIAL JOHNS) & his new band! RADIOACTIVITY is the US-counterpart to his (former) japanese band THE NOVICE when he moved back to the US. Not unlike the before mentioned bands you get buzzsaw powerpop punk with the disctinctive singing & songwriting of Jeff. You need a definition of catchy? Any fan of the MARKED MEN and his songs will melt away the exclusive double A-Side Hits! On the B-Side there is a rather dark and rougher song, the expression of an odd anxiety and a state of helplessness about the earthquake/nuclear disaster after years of living in Japan is undoubted part of it. At ALIEN SNATCH! we crossed paths with the REDS and MARKED MEN in 2002 even before their debut album - but this is our first release more than a decade later. This 45 is therefore a very special record and it´s incredibly exciting to have them over in Europe at the end of the month. Accompanied by Mark Ryan and Daniel/Greg of BAD SPORTS turns this into a celebrity hideout. We literally run a bunch of miles in Austin to see their and and only show ast SXSW this year, it exceeded any expectation! So wherever you are, make the trip!- Format

In A Desperate Red
[engl] Fred and Toody Cole (Dead Moon, Pierced Arrows) and drummer Louis Samora's ultimate punk masterpiece - In A Desperate Red. This is the last record by the Portland punk legends before moving on to a very brief country period and then Fred and Toody moving on to Dead Moon. In fact, two songs from the first Dead Moon LP hail from the same session as this LP. IN A DESPERATE RED combines garage rock, new wave and art punk...just picture a more punk version of Dead Moon if you can. 6 years of work went into remixing and remastering this version - with Fred Cole twisting knobs and obsessing over it's every detail and then Greg Shadoan and Tim Stollenwerk finishing the job. One of Fred Cole's greatest records and impossible to find for many years - at last this LP is available as it was meant to be heard. Play it loud....- Format

Beyond Delay
[engl] The Real Energy are a serial killer blues band and they come up with a potent combination of garage squeal and feedback, don't-give-a-shit vocals and a sense of melody that borrows from '60s girl groups and psychedelic pop. The whole thing has a wonderful and natural devil-may-care attitude that can be severely lacking in today's bloated, pretentious and often histrionic rock world. I thought punk was supposed to kill all that? The Real Energy are quite unique at what they do and they are everything but yet another generic and predictable rocknroll band. First of all, most of the songs on The Real Energy's third record are more than three minutes long… The song structures are repetitive but always fueled with sonic and riff-heavy garage punk rock parts which are written intelligently (and I'm not saying that in a pretentious way). Repetitive riffs are always accompanied with background noise and feedback, killer solos and melodies which reflect the psychedelic side of the 60's and 70's garage + glam rock, and you can even hear some glam rock influences. You just get everything you love in let‘s call it rocknroll.- Format

Good Clean Fun
[engl] Way back in the early 2000s Real Losers were right at the top of the heap of best punk bands going on this planet. In fact the 'Go Nutzoid' and 'Don't Leave Me Now' 7"s were amongst the first I distributed. When I started Total Punk I was sad to have missed my opportunity to work with The Real Losers because they were the archetype of what a Total Punk band should be. Well come to find out the 'Go Nutzoid' and "Don't Leave Me Now' 7"s were originally recorded a long with a bunch more tracks with the intention of being their second LP. However at the time a bunch of offers were coming in so those recordings were split up over a series of 7"s and comp tracks with some never seeing the light of day (it's tough being popular). Last year the band found the original tapes and the songs were remixed and slid into my inbox. These sessions find the band at the peak of their game. The perfect combo of Stooges riffage and budget slop now with the addition of some serious pop hooks. Twenty years late to the game but I am happy to announce that REAL LOSERS- 'Good Clean Fun' will finally be released as the band intended and TOTAL PUNK finally gets to put out a Real Losers record. LONG LIVE THE LOSERS!!! Trashed, smashed, and 100% TOTAL PUNK!!!!- Format

REAL NUMBERS
EP
[engl] This is the kind of garage punk that makes me glad that I am not completely deaf yet , but I will soon be because I cannot stop listening to these four songs without pumping up the volume just a little bit more after every song. This is the second single of this trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and its just not too trashy so you can easily play it when you are DJing at the local hipster hangout and leave the RIP OFFS, PROBLEMATICS, TEENGENERATE and RAYDIOS singles at home cause they have been recorded way to crappy anyways. REAL NUMBERS take the punk edges of before mentioned bands and drench it into a bittersweet juice. Recorded by Brian Hermosillo.- Format

Borrow some SATOR rock guitars, make them pick up their bus ticket of Impo & the Tents to pop cul-de-sac, stitch some thrift store RED KROSS look-a-like jeans and and ask some music early semesters out-goofing NOBUNNY songs. Here are the Real Tears! Viking helmets filled with tax-free beer from the night ferry, ready to conquer the squats. Thirteen underton-y shivery punk rock pills, twelve songs clocking in below two minutes. This is far away from retro perfection, this is the loud & fast teenage rock failure! They will be the first playing on the backside of the moon right after their Japanese Tour, no bluff! Their 'Douchebag, party now!' credo is remedy for every level of post punk affliction and procrastination known to man. Two cycles & a little more
[engl] Regal is probably the only french garage band whose members met on World of Warcraft. Very quickly confronted to their own limits of skill on banjo, Xavier (drummer from “The Last Rapes” and “Le Pécheur”) and Caelan (Toulousain and New Zealander) put their folk aspirations aside and called upon Maxime to play bass guitar. The trio asked Antoine Marchalot, the “living good of comical comic strips” still unknown at the time. His sense of humor, equal to his sense of rhythm -personal and unexpected- doesn’t stop the band from organizing several tours in Europe and release two albums, “Possible Endings” in 2012 (Frantic City/Azbin) and “Misery, Redemption & Love” (Azbin) in 2013 (Azbin Records being the label that Xavier erected in 2011). It is during the end of the year’s festivities that Maxime retires from Regal and from his bass amp to pursue other passions: the observation of the cosmos. The band then turns to Fadi, a Syro-Lillois metallurgist often present in “La Barrière”, thick and aging building in the ghost town of Chercq (Belgium) where Xavier and Caelan live. After a tour of 30 gigs in 31 days in May, Caelan and Xavier go back to the studio to record the band’s 3rd album- Format

[engl] Finally! The long awaited album of the Republikans is available. Many years after the Turpentines, it is finally out. This the follow-up band to The Turpentines (White Jazz Records). It also features members of Henry Fiat’s Open Sore. It is a raw blend of early punk rock and some rock’n’roll. Ex-Turpentines singer Markus Karlsson adds his very unique voice and with song titles like “the suicide look”, “favourite lie” or “I wanna break your arm” you can’t go wrong. To complete the sound, the band recruited a horn section (The Honkeys). You may ask what’s the deal with the name? They chose a name that sure has to be hated, a name that fits to their nihilistic, but melodic punk rock songs!- Format

RESEARCH REACTOR CORPORATION
The Collected Findings Of The Research Reactor Corporation
[engl] Research Reactor Corporation is back from 'meeting adjourned' and it's all bizniz for the Australian nuke group on their follow-up sophomore cassingle compilation LP on yours truly ERSTE THEKE TONTRÄGER. We’ve lost all connection to the cooling towers and the containment facility is overloaded. It’s a toxic dump of synth, slime, and snarl. It’s Pee Wee Herman starring in a Blade Runner remake; Devo writing the score for Mad Max. It’s easy to assume that nothing could top the waste dump called Research Reactor Corp. but compared to this new piece of plastic that outdated thing is (nuclear) decommissioned. This – dare I say – experimental compilation comes crashing through the safety doors and slams into some previously untapped atomic potential. It’s angry and frantic; just the way I prefer music. Everything about Research Reactor Corp. indicates chaos, but amid the hazardous material is a groove that keeps you ticking. When the plane goes down, make sure you have your oxygen mask on – kind of feeling. You could call it some kind of “Toxic Beat”. The entire LP is a big safety siren that you’ve wasted your life in this hazardous hunk, the subconscious warning signal telling you to wake up from an experimental drug induced coma. Either way, I’m wide awake and grooving.- Format
