We tend to love bands that fall in the cracks between subgenres here at Sorry State, and the way Natural Causes combine the atmospheric arrangements and angular riffing of post-punk with the energy of garage-punk, all the while sprinkling the whole thing liberally with big pop melodies, makes them a perfect fit for the label. Recommended if you like your punk loud and aggressive, but still forward-thinking and adventurous.

[engl] In the early days of punk amidst the gritty pop riffing and cocaine blasted glam holdovers of CBGB, Max’s Kansas City and the like, Negatives sauntered into life as an anti-poser power trio who enjoyed writing music that was anything but pop. Consisting of reconfigured fallout from The Erotics and Inside Out (no, not that Inside Out), they employed a jagged, machine tight, hyped up guitar centric new wave approach to skewer what little public actually saw them with biting tracks about drugging, paranoia, anxiety and the mindless contentment of standard humans. Big city shit… Without much support, they managed to gig for about 6 months or so before disappearing into the hazy annals of the “me decade”. They did manage to track a few songs and release this lone EP that was all but lost until a lucky thumb met a curious eye in a New York record bin. With some help from friends, we were able to rescue this incredible EP from obscurity and we are beyond excited to offer this KBD monster to you now, freshly remastered from the original and finally in a picture sleeve.

[engl] On CONFINES OF LIFE, the third studio album from California punk band NEIGHBORHOOD BRATS, the band dives head-first into songs about environmental crisis, systemic oppression, interpersonal / intrapersonal conflict, and the trappings of modern existence. Following blueprints of ‘77 punk, ‘80s hardcore and elements of post-punk, the diverse songwriting influences of vocalist Jenny Angelillo and guitarist George Rager are showcased throughout, putting the band in their element, while expanding on their original concept. Recorded in February and March 2020 at Station House studio with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Mark Rains, the band had barely finished production when Los Angeles went into its initial shutdown in response to the incoming pandemic. Multiple 2020 tours were subsequently canceled as the music industry, and life in general, came to a standstill. As live music faces challenges unlike any other in modern existence, the band looks forward to a time when they can safely return to the road. With Nick Aguilar (drums) and Mike West (bass), Neighborhood Brats stands at-the-ready. As their song goes... “We’ll Find You.”

[engl] Neon again ? Yes, Neon again, this time as an american press "licence press" co-released with Water Wing Records. Thick cardboard Pocket Sleeve with different Artwork and different innersleeve. Info : We, Astrid Spirig (vocals/later LILIPUT), Dagmar Heinrich (guitar), Loredana Zandonella (bass), and Gitta Gsell (drums), met in May 1978 in Zurich and formed NEON. None of us had ever played an instrument before! But, we were all animated by the spontaneous, creative, and rebellious spirit of Punk... Then, in December, a performance on Swiss television took place for a program about "women in show business." The TV appearance did not make us happy at all. The recordings for our songs were done in a music studio and we had to fight hard for them. In 2016, Dagmar found an old cassette at her home with the recordings of the two songs "Neon" and "Nazi Schatzi." We are especially keen about NEON being released on Water Wing Records - this nearly 40 years afterwards and then also on vinyl!

[engl] Sometimes it may feel like the world is going to shit, but one can always count on NEON BONE! Like a steady Swiss clockwork, the one-man / full-band genius from Germany cranks out the hits like the Brill Building in the early 60s. And much like that NYC landmark, Neon Bone songs are poppy, catchy and timeless. 'Eager To Please' is his fifth album and numero 4 on Goomba's party squad. 12 brand new tracks, bursting with infectious energy, blending the raw intensity of punk rock with catchy melodies of power pop. In other words, it's the usual mixture of simple and catchy songs and technical inadequacies ;)

[engl] It’s a stark and baron land out there right now. What we all need is some fucking loud, fast, uncompromising raw punk to drown out the constant bullshit being broadcasted as 2021 develops. Both following up storming debut LP’s with five new tracks plus a local cover each, Nervous SS and Rat Cage clash head to head on this 12 song barrage of hell for leather punk rock. The Nervous SS side (Skopje) undoubtedly wears a Totalitär influence on its sleeve, but combine that sweet sound with a complete powerhouse vocal bombardment that sets Nervous SS a cut above the rest. Flip to the Rat Cage side (Sheffield) for a rapid attack of Scandi riffs with the relentless urgency we’ve grown to know and love from the band. The side ends with a U.K. Subs cover, clearly displaying Rat Cage’s classic British Punk influence.
