    RAZZELS

    I Can'T Forget About You/Excuse Me + 1

Three songs that blend an energetic pop/punk sound with several influences from the past 20 years or so. ''Can??t Forget About You'' sounds a bit like Husker Du without the heavy-duty guitar stylings. ''Excuse Me'' features a Ramones feel with more pop punk feel while ''Outta My Head'' fits the mold of a classic pop-punk number.

    REAL BAD NEWS

    Black + white

Here?s the latest and greatest thing to come out of Sacramento since I don?t know what. It?s this mystery band called THE REAL BAD NEWS with their debut album ''Black & White & Red All Over''. This act, which reminds us so much of the legendary UNTAMED YOUTH, can really lay down the 60?s frat thing with a lot of feeling and guts. They were discovered by Deke Dickerson while they opened for him in California?s capital city. Give a listen - it?s straight forward rock?n?roll with a decided bent toward the pre-BEATLES sixties (justdig all that glorious organ and tenor saophone). And man, they even have their own theme song. Not much is known about the band, but if you listen to the brilliant vocals, you seem to hear Deke Dickerson singing. Hmm, is there maybe even a closer contact between him and the band, than we all thought?! Who know?s. Fact is, that the album got engineered and produced by Deke Dickerson and that he?s written the liner notes too, so let?s listen to what he?s saying about them. '' In the last couple of years, ''garage rock'' has made the headline with such acts as the WHITE STROKES. I haven?t really taken a fancy to any of these bands, personally. To me, they just don?t have any HEART or any SOUL. I had just about given up on this ''garage rock'' phenomenon until that fateful night at Old Ironsides in Sacramento, California, when a band called THE REAL BAD NEWS open up for me. These guys were awesome! They were a real garage band, but they weren?t a cookie-cutter-cover band like those 80?s Vox Wig TM bands. They wrote great original songs, like ''We?re the Bad News'', ''Don?t get me wrong'' and ''Cast the fist stone''. And when they did do a cover, they would take a great song like Ray Charles? ''Leave my woman alone'' and turn it into a raving garage classic. The even took Faron Young?s country classic ''Hello walls'' and made it into a RIVIERAS-style organ frat pounder! These guys are geniuses! I decided to take this group of miscreants into the studio, to claim their own slice of the''garage rock'' pie. If those guys don?t hit it big, I?ll eat my hat! They have all the necessary ingredients - Nate Forrets?s excellent singing, Henry Dantill?s blazing guitar work, Leo Sutter?s harmonies and solid rhythm guitar and of course the secret weapon, the ''cuteness factor'' of Billy ''the Kid'' Lakeson that is sure to make these guys the next

    RENEGADES OF PUNK

    s/t

[engl] "This Brazilian band plays a very familiar style of fast punk that borders on hardcore. The distortion on the guitar is light and the riffs are often tinged with a more basic garage-y flare that works well here and lands this band somewhere near REGULATIONS or something like that with angry female vocals. This is a really great demo." (MRR)

    REVISIONS

    Revised observations

Revolution rock continues!

    RIPPERS

    Fire tractaät

[engl] Very few bands can say they’ve been together for seventeen years and still manage to find the way of making every album and every concert leave you with an even better taste in the mouth than the previous ones. This is a privilege reserved for those bands that have built their own sound and created their own context. Rippers are one of these bands. After five albums and a variety of 7” (including a spilt with Turbonegro) the band formed by the Teichenné brothers publish Fire Träctat, their first album by BCore, where they pick up the quintessence of their dark and furious punkrock. Three winters have gone by since they stunned us with Seeds of the New Dawn, an album produced by themselves after two albums recorded with Santi García, and with which they managed to go to an even higher level of energy then what we are used to, perfecting it with a rare elegance. With Fire Träctat they have taken yet another small step towards that secret place only they know. Not even the recent change of drummer (Marc Morell has taken the place of Francesc Marchan) has managed to keep them away from the noisy path so full of pain that they have gone down these last two decades. In Fire Träctat the guitars flow from serenity to anger while Marcs vocals are at the edge of the abyss showing no fear to be looked back at. Their sixth LP, where the Rippers liberate themselves from all external elements, they shut themselves in their studio at Arboç, and descend down to the seed of their own music, dodging the madness by just a few inches. That’s how they manage to gather, in their ten songs, all of their primitive rage, their raw sound, of an essential beauty that shouts out, a true drop down to hell where even the guitars confess their sins. The artwork of the album has been taken from a piece by Willliam Blake, the British poet and painter from the beginnings of the XIX century, who with he’s visions of hell reached deep places close to those that Rippers visit in Fire Tractaät.
